The book is dedicated to those first settlers of this community who had the courage, strength, and endurance to come to the part of the Northwest Territory that became Indiana. Some pioneers’ names are: Clifton, Benedict, Bigley, Easterday, Heller, Houghton, Louden, Melbourn, Norris, Osborn, Overmyer, Rector, Romig, Stahl, Tabor, Vanschoiack, Wickizer, Wise, and Zechiel. These first homesteaders became the bankers, merchants, farmers, builders, and workmen who built the community we know.
