Mona Fuad was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and was educated in Catholic schools in Cairo. At 16, she won the nation’s beauty contest and once crowned Miss Egypt, Mona secured her first movie contract by winning a Jennifer Jones lookalike contest. After being chosen for the lead in the Egyptian version of “Duel in the Sun”, Mona appeared in many Egyptian films and such American films as The Ten Commandments and I Spy. Upon leaving show business and moving to America during the mass exodus of Europeans from Egypt, Mona founded the first acrylic fingernail salon in Dallas, TX in 1971. With over 75 locations on three continents, her success helped define the landscape of the now over $35 billion dollar modern nail industry. Mona has lived in Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Bangkok, France, Germany, and currently resides in Houston, Texas with her husband and family.
